August 4th Water Chestnut Pull

The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) will be hosting a community water chestnut pull on August 4th at the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse on Shore Drive in Somerville.  All equipment will be provided but early registration is required to participate. Eradication efforts of water chestnuts, an invasive plant clogging the Mystic River and elsewhere in the Watershed have been ongoing for many years. Currently, MyRWA is aggressively combating Water Chestnuts and partnering with local environmental organizations and boat clubs including Groundwork Somerville, Friends of the Mystic River, Riverside Yacht Club, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, and others, and is participating in a multi-year project to control water chestnuts in the Mystic.
