Cleaning & Greening: Draw 7 Park June 14th 10am-12pm

Did you know there is still snow in Somerville? Draw 7 Park served as a snow farm over the winter and still has the remnants from this winter’s record-breaking storm. While the snow will eventually melt, the large amount of trash and debris left behind will not. Luckily, Groundwork Somerville is aiming to help with our brand new Cleaning & Greening Initiative! This new community-based volunteer program consists of monthly projects to improve public spaces around the city of Somerville. The 2015 Cleaning & Greening Season kicked off with:

• 4/22 – Trash Cleanup with Velir at Kennedy Elementary and the Somerville Library West Branch
• 4/25 – Painting, Planting and Cleanup at 12 locations for the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup, sponsored by Comcast Cares Day
• 5/21 – Painting, Planting and pollinator gardens projects at South Street Farm, sponsored by Jules Catering

and continues with

• 6/14 – Massive cleanup and debris removal in Draw 7 Park, sponsored by Assembly Row
• 7/9 – Painting, harvesting and irrigation at South Street Farm, sponsored by East Boston Savings Bank
• 8/15 – Project TBD in Davis Square area, sponsor TBD

Sign up to join us from 10am-12pm at Draw 7 Park on June 14^th. Thanks to our event sponsors at Assembly Row, Groundwork Somerville will be working to gather 50+ volunteers to get the park back into shape. Draw 7 Park is located next to the Assembly Square T stop and boarders the Mystic River. Register here: Draw 7 Registration. The snow melt has also made the park very muddy so remember to wear proper footwear to the cleanup!
