Groundwork Somerville is exited to be sending two staff and two youth representatives to this year’s GWUSA annual Assembly and Youth Summit!
Groundwork USA’s Annual Assembly and National Youth Summit, scheduled for September 14 – 18, 2011, in Denver, CO and Rocky Mountain National Park, is a unique annual event that brings together Groundwork practitioners—Executive Directors, youth crew leaders and teens from Groundwork Trusts across our national network—alongside partners from various non-profits and Federal agencies to convene in and connect to the wider National Park system beyond their respective communities.
The Assembly and Youth Summit is one of the best forums in the nation for sharing and celebrating best practices for engaging disadvantaged urban and rural populations across our country in equitable planning and community building activities, particularly projects and programs that promote environmental justice, awareness, youth leadership and stewardship. Participants bring their own perspective to share, as well as questions and challenges for trouble-shooting with their peers; attendees also come away with new insights, inspiration, and a better understanding of how to launch and administer projects and programs that are responsive to the needs of their own community.
