Groundwork Somerville Summer Appeal

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As you all know, the last two years has been a hard time for all of us – businesses, homeowners, renters, non-profits, municipalities. Groundwork Somerville has also been wrestling with these challenging times. We have realized that without the strong financial support of our local community, we will have to significantly restructure and reduce our Green Team, Gardens and Community Corridor Planning initiatives – cutting staff and providing only minimal support for programs that have made a tremendous positive impact on the youth and physical environment of Somerville and its neighboring cities and towns.

These drastic changes will take place on September 1, 2011 unless we canraise $100,000 to help us close out the year and start 2012 on a solid footing. We are calling on you, our neighbors, volunteers and supporters, to help us reach this critical goal. This is the moment to demonstrate that our GWS community capital is powerfully available for the continued pursuit of environmental justice and youth empowerment in Somerville and beyond.

We are seeking:

  • 25+ super supporters to give $1000
  • 50+ able friends to give us $500
  • 250+ gracious givers to share with us whatever you are able – whether it’s $25 or $200, your gift makes a difference!

We CAN get to our goal of $100,000, because we believe that Groundwork Somerville supporters are passionately committed to our shared work: the sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment through the development of community-based partnerships which empower people, businesses and organizations to promote environmental, economic and social well-being. Here’s how you can provide your donation:

* Cash or check is always the best way to donate to GWS! Pick-up options are available by contacting; you can also send us your check at 21 Properzi Way, Suite O, Somerville, MA 02143

* You can also donate online.

We are thankful and encouraged by all of the support and enthusiasm we have received from our community over the past 11 years. Let’s make 2011 the start of another 11 successful years of providing transformative service and positive change throughout our city and region!
