Eyes in the Field: Documenting urban native plants and insects for Conservation

April 26, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Description: Claire invites us to open up to a type of Nature that is closer than we think – present all around us in our busy cities. She will lead a few activities to ease the journey of discovering urban wildlife and documenting it to help protect it.

Presenter: Claire O’Neill (Earthwise Aware). Claire O’Neill is the founder of Earthwise Aware (EwA) and the director of its Biodiversity & Climate Participatory Science program. This initiative connects the public with its immediate natural systems and empowers communities. EwA is known locally for its democratization of ecological science through experiences focused on place-based urban wildlife, natural history, and the conservation of species interactions in their natural habitat. Claire also serves as a board member of the Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation and is an advisor for the Green & Open Somerville group.
