Greenhouse Workshare Program

Are you interested in starting your own seedlings this spring? We have greenhouse space to share! As an environmental non-profit focused on food access and education, we want to use our resources to encourage others to grow food for themselves and their neighbors.

This season, we will provide six community members with space in our greenhouse to grow seedlings for the spring and summer. In exchange for using our greenhouse space, we ask that each work-share volunteers to help host our Spring Seedling Sale and grow a portion of seedlings for this sale.

Apply through this link by February 7th. For questions, please contact emily@groundworksomerville.org

Facilitate a Community Workshop

This year, we plan to host a handful of community-wide workshops focused on the themes of food & farming, environment, and climate, and sustainability. We are looking for guest-presenters interested in facilitating a 30min-1hr workshop in an area of your expertise! This could involve a pickling demonstration, lecture on red lining & climate change, medicinal herbs, mushroom farming, etc. These workshops will be sliding-scale with a small stipend for guest presenters. If you are interested and have knowledge and skills to share, please fill out this form!

Maple Syrup Boil Down Support

We are excited to announce the Maple Syrup Boil Down is coming back in full swing for 2023! This wonderful community tradition and collaboration between Groundwork Somerville and The Somerville Community Growing Center. Through tapping local maple trees on the Tufts campus, we are able to spend time outdoors in winter, enjoy experiential learning, and connect with seasonal cycles and one of nature's most beautiful systems!

We will have two day-long Boil Down dates: One on February 17th for school groups, and one on March 11th from 11am-2pm that is open to the public. For this event to be successful and engaging, we need your help! We are looking for a variety of committed volunteers for February 17th and March 11th to ensure these Boil Down dates run smoothly.

Please sign up here to volunteer for this event!!
