Maple Syrup in the Library Series: Central Library 3/2

March 2, 2013 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us at the Central Library on Saturday, March 2nd at 2 pm for the third of 3 “Maple Syrup in the Library” workshops! As part of the Somerville Maple Syrup Project, Groundwork Somerville will be offering educational, hands-on learning activities, book reading, and games in the libraries, geared towards kids ages 5-9 and their families.  Each workshop is FREE and runs about an hour long; no need to RSVP.

The final workshop, at the Central Library, will explore the history of maple syrup production and how it’s done today.  We’ll read the Woksis Legendlearn how Native Americans and European colonists gathered sap and made syrup, and explore old and modern materials for syrup production.  This workshop will be a perfect lead-up to the Boil Down Festival on March 9th, and is open to parents as well as kids!

For more information, email Lee@groundworksomerville.org.  Thanks to the Friends of the Somerville Public Library for funding these workshops!
