Celebrate the season’s first heat wave by supporting some very local growers–and one of our school gardens! The Healey School Seedling Sale is this Saturday, June 1, 9:00am-1:00pm at the first Union Square Farmers’ Market of the season.
First- and third-graders started the seedlings in their classrooms this year as part of Service Learning projects that integrated a natural science curriculum with community service learning. For sale will be vegetable seedlings, including heirloom tomatoes, various herbs, flowering annuals and perennials, including shade perennials, strawberry, raspberry, and as always, mystery seedlings. If you cannot make the sale tomorrow, there will be a leftovers sale Friday, June 7, after school at Healey (provided there are leftovers!).
Proceeds will go to the Friends of the Healey School group, which supports off-site enrichment, school events, and learning opportunities as well as the school garden–the very same one recently honored by the First Lady!
